For the list of hot spots, this one is long over due... The Bounty Hunter in downtown Napa. In the early 90's, Mark Pope decided to create a catalog that catered to the serious wine collector. Not only was it a hit, but it also spawned one of the best places to hang out in the downtown area of Napa. The Bounty Hunter Wine Bar and Bistro has a great selection of wines by the glass and by the flight, great beers and excellent BBQ. On top of all of that, most of what you are able to sample, you can also purchase on the spot. Deffinetly worth a visit.

I want to be able to not only share experiences with all of you, but also share some of my favorite spots to hang out and have a glass of wine. Many of these places are not only frequented by a local following, but also by several other wine industry insiders.
My first "Hot Spot" listing has to be Mike Garcia's The Wine Room in Palo Alto. Located on Ramona and University in the Downtown area of Palo Alto, The Wine Room is the only wine bar in the area. Not only is it the only spot to quench your wine craving, but Mike and the rest of the crew have created a fantastic and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a glass of wine with friends and colleagues. --Austin
If you happen to be in the Peninsula, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't be disappointed!
If you happen to be shopping on Santana Row in San Jose, don't miss these guys. Vintage Wine Merchants is an awesome wine shop. Everything from boutique domestic wines to classic Bordeaux producers from famed vintages, this is a very comprehensive shop. Plus you can grab a seat at the bar and sample some of the goods before you buy. I highly recommend stopping in and talking with Mike, Joe or Mark; they will know how to point you in the right direction for wine.--Austin
3 Degrees at The Lodge at Tiburon
Usually I reserve my visits to hotels and their resident restaurants for the times that I am on the road, however there are some exceptions. One of these would have to be 3 Degrees at The Lodge at Tiburon. Being able to drop off your car in Tiburon, take the ferry to Angel Island or San Francisco for the day, and then come back and enjoy the evening with a great meal and glass of wine at the 3 Degrees Restaurant, is a pure treat. Don't take my word for it.... try it out your self!--Austin
