Santa Rita Hills

Intersected by the Santa Ynez River, the cool climate appellation is located between the towns of Buellton and Lompoc in Santa Barbara County, California, Sta. Rita Hills is one of California’s premier cool-climate viticultural regions. Sta. Rita Hills is uniquely situated to receive the maritime influences that create the ideal climate for the growing of exceptional winegrapes.   It is a relatively small appellation of approximately 100 square miles and currently has over 1700 acres planted to vineyard with the leading varietal being Pinot Noir. The Santa Rita Hills gets it name from a series of rolling east-west elevations between Lompoc and Buellton benefiting from Pacific fog and coastal breezes. Expression 34° will produce up to two vineyard designate wines (Rita's Crown & Bentrock) from the Sta. Rita Hills and a Sta. Rita Hills blend.
